High employee turnover costs millions
of dollars a year in training and retraining personnel. When experienced
deputies leave the agency, inexperienced deputies are sometimes put in
supervisory positions. This creates an abundance of problems from poor
community interaction to improper arrests and lawsuits against the agency.
We need to bring this agency back to where the citizens do not fear
law enforcement officers, but respect them.
As your Sheriff, I will restructure the
agency so that it is not a top-heavy organization and improve morale so that
the veteran deputy will not want to leave. This will result in a more
experienced supervisory staff with better attitudes and create a better
community-policing environment, while saving tax dollars.
As immigration issues are of great
concern to the citizens within our county, I am in favor of assisting
Immigration deporting alien criminals, illegal aliens who commit crimes in
Collier County. It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to
control our borders and as Sheriff I welcome the opportunity to work with
them protecting Collier County.
