By WINK News

The Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police has announced they are backing Victor Ortino for the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

They noted "leadership and management" as a reason to support Ortino. He served in the U.S. Air Force and as a Trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Currently Ortino heads an investigative agency in Naples.

The statement by the Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police did not mention current Sheriff Don Hunter.

Hunter, who was elected in 1989 and then re-elected in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 to the Sheriff's post has not yet filed to run for Sheriff according the Collier County Supervisor of Election's website.
